Full Obedience
By myself I have sworn, says the LORD: Because you have done this, and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will indeed bless you, and I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of their enemies, and by your offspring shall all the nations of the earth gain blessing for themselves, because you have obeyed my voice. - Genesis 22:16-18
God put Abraham's faith to the test by asking him to give up what he valued most: his son Isaac. Abraham's reward for his act of faith was a blessing of abundance. Sometimes in our lives God may ask us to be willing to give up something valuable to us for the sake of our faith. Maybe it's giving up friends who aren't making good decisions and who may be bad influences on us. Maybe it's a matter of moving to a new town when we'd really like to stay where we are. Our faith in God may lead us to take risks that we might rather not take.
God, help us to obey you with all our hearts.
