Choosing to Serve
Whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom. - Matthew 20:27-28
Jesus has a different kind of leadership in mind than most people tend to think of. He reminds his followers that real leaders don't just "take charge" and look important. They really serve the people they are leading. Jesus showed us this not only by his words, but by his actions, by the way he healed and cared for others, especially sinners. Jesus lived what he taught.
God, help us to serve one another and others who may need our help.
